Designing Your Home With Pantone’s Color Of The Year, Classic Blue

Designing Your Home With Pantone’s Color Of The Year, Classic Blue

With spring quickly approaching, our winter blues turn into decorating with blues. Enter Pantone’s color of the year: classic blue! A soft, calming color, Classic Blue has a comforting and relatable feel to it. “Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge. Aiding concentration and bringing laser like clarity, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue re-centers our thoughts. A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience” as described by Pantone.

While this celebrated blue is always a safe bet, don’t shy away from other blue hues. Play with the saturated shade of Classic Blue: navy. A rich navy is always stunning on a sofa, especially in velvet upholstery. Design our sophisticated Modern Chester sofa in a navy leather or velvet to highlight the traditional appeal. These two navy materials we have at our factory can be applied to virtually any sofa, chair, or bed, so feel free to go navy crazy! Our Hexa Bed and Double Bed both feature dynamic shaping to the headboard, which only adds to the luxurious feel. Navy can also take an uber-modern turn when used on accent pieces such as armchairs, ottomans, and pillows.

If navy is too neutral for your style and your home, we have more blues to choose from! One of our best materials for performance is our microfiber fabric that resembles the look of velvet without the delicateness. With seven colors available in this lush material, our serene, Aegean blue has a unique sense of both playfulness and calm to it. This blue is a fun choice for upholstering armchairs, dining chairs, or ottomans anywhere from the living room to the playroom–no need to worry about damaging spills on this fabric! If your home is calling for an eye-catching change, try designing this Aegean blue fabric on our mid-century-modern-like Gola Sofa and add a contrasting piping for an added uniqueness.

We have a more muted shade of Classic Blue in our popular lacquer materials. To make a statement, use it on our modern-meets-retro Neva Sideboard in your dining room or living space for extra storage that doubles as a conversation piece. Choose the lacquer in matte for a more subtle appearance, or go for full attention-grabbing with the gloss coating. No space for a sideboard or prefer to add pops of color in smaller doses? No problem. Choose to build your coffee table, dresser and nightstands, side tables, TV unit, and console tables in this bold blue lacquer.

Many of our accent furniture allows for full customization of colors, giving the option to mingle lacquer, wood, and glass, which is perfect for those who either want less of a pop or who simply can’t decide on a color. (It’s ok, we’ve all been there.) A design that often reminisces of Art Deco is designing the body of the Laire Nightstand in our popular walnut wood and the door in matte or gloss blue lacquer. The contrast of the chic blue lacquer against the classic wood combined with the retro design of the nightstand pull “art piece” vibes that double as bedside tables. Our Rocco Coffee Table is a popular way to add a strong sense of color to neutral living rooms: just add blue. Lacquer is a great way to pull different aesthetics, shapes, and materials together.

If your home is nearly complete and you’re only in the market for a rug, we have a luxe, deep cerulean blue that pulls tones of the ocean with each footprint and movement, creating that calming sense we all know and love about Classic Blue.

Thanks to Pantone, we will be seeing more and more of the color blue this year, adding comfort to our everyday lives. Stop by one of our five showrooms in the U.S. or contact us online for one of our in-house interior designers to design blue pieces for your home.
